Trainer Profile: Mr David Healey

David combines over 25 years experience as a chemical engineer and senior executive within the food processing and health care industries. He has extensive experience in operational management both in small and large organisations ranging from line supervision through to factory manager.

David gained his experience working for Queensland Alumina, Alcan, Nestle Australia and Haigh's Confectionery. His career has offered him management positions in manufacturing, packaging, quality assurance, food safety, new product development, marketing and distribution.

David's major area of expertise is in HACCP based food safety programs, quality assurance systems and operational management. As an operations manager he oversaw a number of major projects including the shutdown, relocation and recommissioning of two factories, the commissioning of state-of-the-art technology, workplace reform, restructuring and enterprise bargaining agreements, and achieving key financial objectives through improved plant performance and efficiencies.

For the past 10 years David has worked as a workplace Trainer delivering qualifications in Frontline Management, Food Processing, Health Support Services and as a technical consultant with such companies as:

Arnott's Biscuits, TipTop Bakeries, Sanitarium Heath Food Company, Adelaide Poultry, Bickfords Australia Ltd, CYWHS - Glenside Psychiatric Hospital, Southern Cross Care. CYWHS - Women's & Children's Hospital Adelaide, Anglicare SA, St Andrew's Private Hospital

He is currently involved in the writing, development, implementation and auditing of HACCP based food safety programs for the Aged Care and Food Processing industries. This has included training personnel in the causes of food-borne illness, the identification of potential contamination sources and the development of internal auditing procedures.

David also regularly delivers training in Frontline Management at both the Certificate and Diploma level for companies in manufacturing, retail and service based industries.
